Description

1983 Fender Lefty American Standard Stratocaster Left-Handed Vintage Electric Guitar. This guitar appears to be all original except for the body refinish and the black pickguard. Originally with a Candy Apple Red finish, the body has been stripped and redone in a relic satin off-white finish. The guitar sounds and plays wonderfully with zero issues. It weighs just 7.72 pounds and has a 1-11/16″ nut width. The neck thickness measures 0.792″ at the 1st fret and 0.852″ at the 12th fret.

Overall in excellent condition. The body’s finish has been intentionally aged to feature finish checking throughout.  All hardware is very clean. The back of the neck is smooth, glossy, and blemish-free. The maple fingerboard looks great. The frets have minimal fretwear and have just been polished to a bright shine. The neck is perfectly straight and the truss rod word. No issues with the headstock and the original tuners work perfectly. The pickups and electronics appear to be original and sound great with no issues. A humbucker pickup was once installed in the bridge position but the original pickups have been reinstalled.

Includes the original hardshell in great working condition. All latches work, as does the handle. Includes the tremolo bar. Does not include any other accessories.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

At the end of the resurgent Dan Smith era, Fender introduced a new Stratocaster with only two control knobs and an input jack mounted on the top of the body for 1983 and 1984. This guitar is referred to as the “Standard Stratocaster” (not to be confused with the later Made in Mexico Strat of the same name).

Unique to this two-year production run were the Freeflyte surface-mounted vibrato tailpiece (no internal cavity), top mounted input jack and third tone knob delete.
